Overview

vue-directive-tooltip

Node NPM NPM Downloads/month Vue.js

Vue.js tooltip directive (based on Popper.js)

Installation

yarn add vue-directive-tooltip

or

npm install vue-directive-tooltip --save

Usage

Super simple

<span v-tooltip="'my text'">some text</span>

A lot of options make this tooltip convenient:

  • content: simple text or use another html tag
  • positioning (right, left, ...)
  • positioning variants: start | end. ex: bottom.end, top.start, right.end, etc...
  • delay to hide (in ms)
  • offset (from the target in px)
  • choose from several triggers (hover, focus, click)
  • full programmatic, you choose when to show/hide the tooltip
  • and of course, use your custom CSS class

Documentation

Full documentation with examples

Builds

If you don't use a package manager, you can access vue-directive-tooltip via unpkg (CDN), download the source, or point your package manager to the url.

vue-directive-tooltip is compiled as a collection of CommonJS modules & ES2015 modules for bundlers that support the jsnext:main or module field in package.json (Rollup, Webpack 2)

The vue-directive-tooltip package includes precompiled production and development UMD builds in the dist folder. They can be used directly without a bundler and are thus compatible with many popular JavaScript module loaders and environments. You can drop a UMD build as a <script> tag on your page. The UMD builds make vue-directive-tooltip available as a window.vueDirectiveTooltip global variable.

Misc

This module was created using generator-module-extended-boilerplate.

Issues
  • Do not hide tooltip if mouse over tooltip content itself

    Do not hide tooltip if mouse over tooltip content itself

    Feature:

    Right now when you hover on a tooltip and try to mouseover the tooltip it disappears. In my case I have to display "Learn more" link inside a tooltip and make it clickable by a user. I know that it can be achieved by attaching tooltip element as a child of element that triggers tooltip so it keeps hovered when user mouseovers the tooltip. I couldn't find a way to achieve that with vue-directive-tooltip. There is container option in Popper.js/tooltip (https://github.com/FezVrasta/popper.js/blob/master/docs/_includes/tooltip-documentation.md search for 'container') but it seems that you are using Popper.js directly without it's tooltip component.

  • tooltip visibility

    tooltip visibility

    Hi, I'm not able to hide the tooltip when trigger is hover.

    v-tooltip="{ content: 'test', visible: false }"

    For some reason that only works if i put v-tooltip.notrigger otherwise visible property is totally ignored and the tooltip is always displayed. I'm not sure if this is a bug or it is the intended behaviour, but it's quite weird why I should not be able to hide the tooltip on demand.

  • [feature] add lazy load init tooltip.

    [feature] add lazy load init tooltip.

    Feature

    Hi, can you add lazy initialization tooltip? If I add tooltip on buttons in rows of table. On 20 rows, i get 20 initializations. It's too many. And can you add auto-destroy please like here https://github.com/Akryum/v-tooltip/blob/master/src/v-tooltip.js#L239. Thx in advance. I lost half fps, because tooltip.js autoupdate positions on scroll.

  • iPhone click seen as hover

    iPhone click seen as hover

    Hello, have you noticed the behavior of the tooltip on iPhone? It will prevent the click because on click it will first show the tooltip than you have to click again to actually do the action.

    Do I have to configure something specific? Or what would be the best way to disable the tooltips on phone?

    Thanks

    Not displaying with no-trigger

    hello,

    offset and delay do not work in this code. Is it normal behavior when you use notrigger?

    on mouse enter and leave are added options i added to make the display dynamic.

     <div class="has-text-left">

    	<div type="submit" class="button is-primary-merlin" v-tooltip.notrigger="{ content: tooltipData[3], visible: showToolTip(3), class: 'merlintooltip', offset: 50 }" v-on:mouseover="showToolTip(3, 'in')" v-on:mouseleave="showToolTip(3, 'out')" :disabled="!showSubmit"><i class="fa fa-floppy-o"></i></div>

  • Tooltip closes after hovering target element's child

    Tooltip closes after hovering target element's child

    This is my usage code:

    <button type="button" class="btn-nth relative" v-tooltip="{content:'Notifications (N)', offset: 8}" @click="changeRoute('notifications')">
    	<i class="v-icon v-bell-2" aria-hidden="true"></i>
    	<span class="queue-number" v-show="unreadNotifications" v-text="unreadNotifications"></span>
    </button>

    Tooltip opens when I hover the router-link but closes after my hovering reaches the inside element which is home-icon.

    Any way to work around this?

    Thanks for the great job BTW.

  • Problem with default placement

    Problem with default placement

    When I'm overriding the default options when installing the plugin, all options are affected, than the 'placement'. I wanted to put default placement 'top', but it's 'auto'. If I put v-directive.top it is working.

    Here is the code:

    import Tooltip from 'vue-directive-tooltip' import 'vue-directive-tooltip/css/index.css' Vue.use(Tooltip, { delay: 100, position: 'top' })

    Here is how I use it:

    <li v-for="type in voteTypes" v-tooltip="{ content: getTitle(type.value) }"> ... </li>

    The result: placement right and changes because it's auto. I also saw it in the html - x-placement="right"
